1. what we collect
When you use melt, we collect:
- Game answers — your responses to game questions, stored in our database linked to your game session
- Gender — if you choose to provide it (optional "prefer not to say" available)
- Email address — only if you voluntarily provide it for notifications
- Session data — a unique session ID and share code to link partners' answers
We do not collect: your name, phone number, location, IP address for identification purposes, or any other personally identifying information.
2. how we use your data
- To match your answers with your partner's and display results
- To show aggregate statistics ("68% of people chose the same")
- To send you results notifications if you provided your email
- To display relevant product recommendations based on your answers
- To improve the Service (aggregate, anonymized analysis only)
3. answer privacy — the core promise
Your non-matching answers are never shown to your partner. This is the fundamental privacy guarantee of the Service. Only answers where both partners chose the same option are revealed.
However, please be aware that it may be possible for a partner to infer some non-matching answers through logical deduction based on which questions matched and which did not.
4. data storage and security
- Game data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS) with encryption at rest
- No user accounts are created — all data is linked to anonymous session IDs
- We use HTTPS for all data transmission
- We do not sell your data to third parties
5. sensitive data
We recognize that answers to intimate questions constitute sensitive personal data. We treat all game answers with the highest level of care. This data is:
- Never shared with third parties in identifiable form
- Never used for advertising targeting
- Only used in aggregate, anonymized form for statistics and product improvement
- Accessible only to essential service infrastructure
6. email communications
If you provide your email, we will use it only to:
- Notify you when your partner completes the game
- Send you information about new game rounds (if you opted in)
You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email or contacting us.
7. cookies and tracking
We use cookies for essential functionality (session management) and analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Service — this includes page views, traffic sources, device types, and general usage patterns. Google Analytics may set cookies on your browser. We do not use advertising cookies or retargeting.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
8. affiliate links
Product recommendations contain affiliate links. When you click these links, the destination website may collect its own data according to its own privacy policy. We do not control third-party websites' data practices.
9. data retention
Game session data is retained for service functionality and aggregate analysis. If you wish to have your session data deleted, contact us with your session ID or share code and we will remove it within 30 days.
10. your rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to your data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for email communications
- Ask questions about how your data is used
11. children's privacy
The Service is strictly for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it immediately.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will indicate the date of the latest update at the top of this page.
